On Saturday 7th May 2011, Otters Nivea celebrated its 40th anniversary during a reception held at Palazzo Palina at the Hotel Ta’ Cenc.
In their early years Otters competed in the competitions organized by the Gozo Aquatic Association. However from 1982 onwards they regularly took part in the National waterpolo competitions held by the ASA. This is a record participation for any Gozitan sports club or association.
During the reception, the gathering was addressed by the club’s president Enzo Dimech, two founder members, George Calleja and Frank Masini, ASA president Joe Caruana Curran, and by the personal assistant of the Minister for Gozo, Anthony Borg. During this occasion three players, Kevin Mizzi, Darren Saliba and Marc
Tabone were given mementos in recognition of their stirling service to the club. These were presented by Alfred Cachia, present coach of Otters Nivea.
Those present had the opportunity to go down memory lane by viewing a power point presentation of photos ably prepared by well-known photographer Daniel Cilia, a former Otters player – or click here to view.
Entertainment was provided by singers Morena and Spiro Sillato. This event was supported by the club’s sponsors Nivea.
