This is part of an ongoing effort to improve precision in the standards. Rounding of intermediate steps is an issue that leads to rounding errors and ambiguous results. E989 that defines calculation of the single number impact ratings currently requires the data to be rounded to integers before the calculation, which violates this principle. Therefore, revisions to E989 are planned to change this. In preparation for that change, we propose to change the reporting requirements so that the results are reported to 0.1 dB, not to the integer dB. This will allow the calculation of single number ratings from reported data when E989 is changed.
