ASTM Committee D12 on Soaps and Other Detergents was formed in 1936. D12 meets once a year, usually in October, with about 15 members attending one day of technical meetings. The Committee, with a membership of approximately 77, currently has jurisdiction of approximately 48 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 15.04. D12 has 6 technical subcommittees that maintain jurisdiction over these standards. These standards have and continue to play a preeminent role in all aspects important to the industry including: composition, sampling, properties, classification, nomenclature, analysis, and quality assurance.
